Tavistock Place is named after the ground landlord, the Duke of Bedford, Marquess of Tavistock, and was built c. 1807. The central London borough of Bloomsbury, where the hotel is situated, is famous for its literary figures such as Charles Dickens and Virginia Woolf's Bloomsbury Set who both lived just around the corner on Tavistock Square. Tavistock Place is also home to the original Mary Ward centre, a famous example of Art Nouveau in London.
The hotel has been with the same family since 1964 and is run by Lucia Geyer together with her children – Hans, Stefan, Karl and Maria-Lisa. We offer a friendly service at great value for money and provide a comfortable home from home. It is also somewhere you can relax and feel welcome, and of course indulge in one of the ‘Best Breakfasts in Town’. |
